What is your name, and why are you the most magnificent creature in the universe?
My official name is Skye (inspired by my sky-colored eyes and an island in Scotland that my human fell in love with), but my humans like to come up with lots of affectionate names for me like Coco, beautiful princess, my beauty, Skyounette, or Robob (a semi-funny joke with my human's coworkers). As for my gorgeous side, it's simple: I'm a natural country beauty. I exude an aura of magnificence effortlessly, just by existing.
How did you choose your human to be your supplicant?
I think it's more of a cat-napping situation, but it's a story that ends rather happily. My human has always loved animals, but when she met her lover (who was very allergic to cats), she mourned the idea of adopting one. Years passed and my humans spent their summers on their friends' farm where I was born. This is how my human became accustomed to co-existing with others of my species, and his allergies went away. When I was born in the spring of 2023, their friend from the farm offered to adopt a kitten and, of course, they couldn't resist my charm (aka my ruffled fur and my little eyes looking in two opposite directions). I was born on a farm, but I quickly got used to the comfortable life at home, with an electric blanket and food all to myself. 👸
What is the most amusing way you confound your human?
After a few weeks of living with my humans, I developed the skill of sneaking behind the oven and using the wall as support and my paws to climb behind it—my humans found this quite impressive. Now they say it's because of the kibble and the 18-hour naps a day that I no longer fit behind the oven, but I don't agree. 😠
On my list of fascinating things, I would add my undeniable love of spinach and peanut butter and my addiction to receiving little pats on the butt every time my humans go to the bathroom (not anywhere else, though!) And other passersby are always very intrigued when they see me comfortably installed in my carrier backpack with my humans. My parents love taking me into nature so I can explore and stretch my legs by climbing trees.
By what means will you inevitably achieve world domination?
My human calls me her muse of rest, because I have a great ability to rest without ever feeling guilty or asking anyone's permission (I am sovereign after all!).
My plan is to inspire everyone around me to get more rest in their lives, prioritize their well-being, and create a society where naps are mandatory, muahaha!
What else does the world need to know about you?
I'm often thought of as a Siamese cat, but I'm actually a surprising mix of a calico mom and an unknown dad. I'm extremely curious (sometimes too much for my own good), and I'm an expert at hiding my toys under the washing machine and forcing my parents to come and get them (it really makes me laugh to see them find that difficult haha!) And even though I'm quite independent, I love cuddling up with my humans and giving them lots of comfort. They really can't do without me! Ah! And I'm still waiting for my check as a co-author of my human's book, with all the time I spent "working" with her on this project! 😮💨
